Hello. My name is Philip. I grew up in the south of England and I studied business at the University of Nottingham. After my studies, I moved to Hanoi in Vietnam to study for my CELTA teaching qualification with International House.

Originally from the UK, I have taught English for over sixteen years in a number of different countries, including Poland, New Zealand, China and the UK. I have a wide range of experience including helping prepare students for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge exams (e.g. FCE, CPE).

I believe my role as a teacher is to give students the tools they need, and then guide them towards improvement without letting myself get in the way. My teaching philosophy is simple - have fun and learn, and above all, interact, both with me and other students. In the end, language is about meaningful communication, and that’s what happens in my classroom.

As long as I've been a teacher, the phrase "To teach is to learn twice" has been a constant reminder to keep learning, underscoring the ongoing journey of knowledge and growth.
